Foot Anstey has announced a double appointment with the arrival of two Partners to grow its expert legal team.

Sam Elworthy has joined as a Partner in the law firm’s highly-regarded Commercial team and Sonya Zywko has joined as Partner to drive the firm’s contentious financial services regulatory practice.

Both have impressive pedigrees. Sam worked at Travers Smith in the City for 12 years before joining Temple Bright and opening their London office in 2013. Whereas, Sonya’s career has spanned private practice, a regulator and a leading investment bank and includes almost 20 years at Norton Rose Fulbright where she specialised in financial services regulatory enforcement and related litigation.

Welcoming Sam to the firm, Karen Bates, Partner and Head of Commercial, said: “Our Commercial team continues to go from strength to strength. Sam is already well known to the team and some of our clients. He is an extremely experienced commercial lawyer and will help us further develop our franchising offering, having worked with SSP, one of the world’s largest operators of food and beverage outlets in the travel sector, on an outsourced in-house basis since 2014.

James Gliddon, Partner and Head of Banking and Lender Disputes, added: “Sonya’s reputation and experience is superb. During her career Sonya has specialised in significant financial services regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings, as well as advising on the conduct of internal investigations and large-scale commercial disputes. As we see the growing impact that the regulators are having across all of our clients’ sectors, we are certain that she will be pivotal in helping our regulated clients with their risk management, investigations and related litigation.”
