In2tec, a leading name in sustainable electronics, has been announced as one of only three recipients of the first-ever ReThink Award, presented by SERI. The accolade celebrates the company’s groundbreaking ReUSE® and ReCYCLE® solutions – innovations that enable electronics to be designed for true sustainability through disassembly, reuse, and recycling.

The ReThink Award was launched by SERI in 2025 to highlight organisations that challenge convention and embed sustainability at the heart of electronic design.

SERI, the non-profit behind the internationally recognised R2 Standard, champions the responsible reuse, repair, and recycling of electronic equipment, working through industry leadership and collaboration.

In2tec’s award-winning approach allows electronics to be engineered for disassembly, making it possible to recover and reuse components rather than only materials. Its patented ReUSE® technology employs flexible circuitry and specially developed adhesives that can be reversed at low temperatures, permitting full-board recovery and reassembly. This creates a closed-loop model for electronics manufacturing previously thought unachievable.

The company was nominated following a presentation by Emma Armstrong, In2tec’s Sustainable Electronics Ambassador, at the Ewaste World Conference and Expo in Frankfurt earlier this year.

“Once Emma spoke, I sat there and thought, wow, this is a perfect candidate for the ReThink Awards,” said Jeff Seibert, SERI’s Chief Provocateur. “It really embodies a different way of thinking – scalable, practical, and genuinely disruptive. It’s not just innovation for innovation’s sake – this is something that could change how the industry approaches sustainability.”

Commenting on the recognition Emma said: “Winning the inaugural ReThink Award is an incredible honour. We’ve spent years challenging a deeply entrenched industry model, and to see our ReUSE® and ReCYCLE™ technologies celebrated on this stage means everything to our team. We’re proving that sustainable electronics isn’t a dream – it’s here, it’s working, and it’s gaining traction.”

Jeff Seibert further explained what distinguished In2tec from the other 25 entrants: “What impressed the judging panel was that In2tec’s technology is already working in the real world. So many solutions are theoretical – this one is in production, with measurable results. The technology’s full-lifecycle thinking – from design through to disassembly – is what this award is all about.”

In2tec shared the award with Framework, the California-based modular laptop producer, and HP, recognised for its certified refurbishment ecosystem. Together, the winners demonstrate a wide range of innovations reshaping electronics – from the drawing board through to end-of-life solutions.

The ReThink Awards were announced at SERI’s electronics summit in Minneapolis, attended by 600 stakeholders from across the electronics value chain, including OEMs, designers, recyclers, and policy leaders.
