Where to bet on the Grand National

Tip 1: Corach Rambler to win @ 9/1 with bet365*

The ante-post favourite for much of the build-up to the Grand National, Corach Rambler looks a great bet to be in the mix at the business end of the race. The Dan Skelton-trained horse has been heavily backed and impressed as a 6/1 to winner at Cheltenham last month. Bet £10 on Corach Rambler to win the Grand National with bet365 to get £30 in free bets.

Tip 2: Back On The Lash EW @ 25/1 with Betfred*

Back On The Lash looks good value for an EW bet at 25/1. Jumps well and should have the endurance to go the distance, whilst also carrying one of the lightest weights in the race which will prove advantageous in the closing stages. Bet £10 on Back On The Lash with Betfred to get £40 in bonuses.

Tip 3: Mister Coffey EW @ 40/1 with William Hill*

Runner-up in five of the last eight hurdle races won, Mister Coffey is our second EW selection at 40/1. Beaten comfortably by Gaillard Du Mesnil at Cheltenham, but stays well and consistently in the mix and will always have a chance when ridden by Nico De Boinville. Bet £10 on Mister Coffey in the Grand National with William Hill to get a £10 free bet to use on Sunday.

How we choose our Grand National Tips

When selecting our Grand National tips, there is a list of criteria that we will check before confidently backing a horse. Far from simply selecting a number or favourite colour, research goes into the tips and we will always look at the following before making a selection.

Form

Form is perhaps the most important factor when it comes to choosing horses not only in the Grand National, but in any race. This can tell you all about how the horse has been performing over a number of seasons and give information on how often they pull up or unseat their rider. Horses with good form will always be more fancied heading into the Grand National.

Age

Another big factor is the age of the horse and the trends that can be spotted from looking into the ages of previous winners. For example, each of the last seven winners of the Grand National have been aged nine or under, with four of them being eight-year-olds. No 11-year-old has won the race since 2014 when Pineau De Re was the victor, in turn becoming the third consecutive 11-year-old to win the Grand National. In recent years, the race has better suited the single-digit horses.

Weight

The third factor we will look at is the weight of each horse. Seven of the last 10 winners of the Grand National have weighed 10-13 or less and horses carrying more than 11-3 have tended to struggle. Only the most special horses have been able to overcome the heavier weights, such as Tiger Roll and Many Clouds, who themselves were one-off horses. Each of our three selections above weight less than 11 stone, given the trends in recent Grand Nationals.
