Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a leading global provider of high-performance digital payment solutions, has announced the launch of its S90 Android SmartPOS series.

The new range – comprising the S90, S90 Pro, and S90 Ultra – brings advanced flexibility and performance to merchants around the world. The Ultra model also includes 5G support for regions where high-speed networks are available.

The launch coincides with NRF 2025: Retail’s Big Show in Europe, where Newland will showcase its broader SmartPOS portfolio.

Designed for both countertop and mobile use, the S90 series establishes a new standard in high-speed payment acceptance while enhancing customer interaction. At its core is a 2.4GHz octa-core processor operating on Android 14, allowing merchants to run demanding business applications securely and efficiently alongside essential payment processing.

The S90 series has been independently benchmarked by a major testing facility in Brazil and by global customers, achieving the top ranking overall. It outperformed key competitors in:

  • Processing capability of the octa-core Central Processing Unit (CPU)

  • Contactless transaction speed enabled by Newland’s advanced chipset and antenna

  • Wireless connectivity speeds across WiFi and 4G

  • Battery performance and charging efficiency

These findings highlight the series’ ability to deliver smooth, reliable, and rapid payment experiences, well-suited to both high-volume transactions and more complex business operations.

A 6.75” high-definition screen facing the merchant ensures clarity for applications, while a secondary customer-facing display enhances the checkout process. Merchants can also opt for a professional-grade 1D/2D barcode scanner, broadening its application across retail environments.

Alan Moss, Managing Director for Europe at Newland Payment Technology, commented: “The S90 series offers merchants what they need most – speed, reliability, and performance that they can count on every day. By combining industry-leading contactless capability, faster wireless connectivity, and extended battery life, the S90 sets a new standard for SmartPOS technology.”

Adam Roberts, Marketing Director for Europe at Newland Payment Technology, added: “The S90 is the lead device in NPT’s flagship ‘S Series’. We’ve designed the S portfolio to integrate payment, commerce, operations and back-end services into a unified platform.

“The architecture is expandable, meaning we can develop new custom hardware for customers even faster. And the software environment provides a straightforward platform for application providers to deploy joined-up solutions across all parts of the consumer and merchant experience.”

The S90 range is tailored for both small businesses with complex needs and large-scale retailers handling significant transaction volumes, offering scalability across diverse sectors. With three variants – S90, S90 Pro, and S90 Ultra – merchants can select the option that matches their operational requirements and network demands while future-proofing their systems.

The S90 series is available now and can be customised for payment facilitators, acquirers, and fintechs seeking to design distinctive point-of-sale strategies.
